Note: Smart School of English is responsible for ONLY the English language component of the advertised courses
Psychological Trauma is a person’s experience of emotional distress resulting from an event that overwhelms the capacity to digest it emotionally. The precipitating event may be a one-time occurrence or a series of occurrences perceived as seriously harmful or life-threatening to oneself or loved ones. When we go through Trauma, we might feel as if we’re to blame. This can cause powerful shame or guilt, even if it wasn’t our fault.
Reasons for feeling self-blame include Your Mind trying to make sense of what’s happened and avoid overwhelming feelings of anger, grief or betrayal. The basic theory of Trauma in psychology focuses on helping people in crisis recognise and change cognitive, behavioural, and emotional distortions brought on temporarily by the traumatic event.
Resolving these temporary maladaptive states may lead to positive self-growth and diminished negative feelings. Delayed responses to Trauma can include persistent fatigue, sleep disorders, nightmares, fear of recurrence, anxiety focused on flashbacks, depression, and avoidance of emotions, sensations, or activities that are associated with the Trauma, even remotely. The Transpersonal Psychology of Trauma is based on the fundamental ideology of spiritual healing of Trauma.
