About Us

At SMART School of English, we provide an exciting and enjoyable learning experience. Our Director of Studies brings extensive experience from managing several successful language schools and is a dedicated Teacher Trainer, specializing in the use of technology in the classroom.

Approach

We adopt a communicative approach to language teaching, emphasizing real-life communication and interaction. This method helps students use English fluently and accurately in authentic contexts, rather than just memorizing grammar and vocabulary.

Materials

We use “Voices” by National Geographic, a textbook series that aligns with our communicative approach. These materials engage students with authentic content, including articles, photographs, and videos on a variety of topics such as culture, science, and current events. Activities like group discussions, role-plays, and project-based tasks promote communication and interaction.

Teachers are also provided with interactive online PowerPoint presentations and a selection of other textbooks, such as Innovations, Outcomes, English File, and Taboos and Issues, to enhance the communicative approach effectively. Weekly schemes of work, monitored by the Academic Office, ensure careful planning, preparation, and reflection.


By creating an engaging and interactive learning environment, we help students develop their English skills while fostering their curiosity about the world.

Develop your Voice in English

With Voices, learners use English as a tool for global communication and are encouraged to celebrate connections among people from a wide range of cultures and backgrounds.  Carefully sequenced activities featuring real-world content fully prepare learners for interaction and guide them to develop their voice in English.

Voices is a seven-level, integrated-skills program for adults and young adults that enables instructors to teach with confidence in all classrooms.  Supported by a common-sense lesson progression and The Voices Professional Development Video Collection, teachers have the learning and teaching materials they need to deliver engaging courses both online and in person.

Learners develop their voice in English by…

  • Listening to and watching National Geographic Explorers share their daily experiences for interesting and relatable models of people contributing their voices to the global English community.
  • Answering the question, ‘What would I do?’ in a range of culturally rich and hypothetical situations to practice the mediation skills needed to navigate social interactions in English.
  • Developing speaking skills using a practical pronunciation syllabus focused on clarity and comprehensibility.
